Suitable for: Families wishing to perform Shraddha rituals for departed ancestors in Kashi, including those travelling from other cities or abroad.
Pind Daan is a Shraddha ritual in which Pindas — traditionally prepared from cooked rice or barley flour mixed with til (sesame), ghee and honey — are offered with prayers for the peace of departed ancestors (Pitru), together with Tarpan of water, til and Kusha.
Kashi holds a special place in the Hindu tradition for rituals performed for ancestors. Our Acharyas guide families through Pind Daan at the ghats and tirthas of Varanasi with care, respect and clear communication at every step.
Families traditionally perform Pind Daan for the peace of departed ancestors — after a death in the family, on the Tithi of the death anniversary, during Pitru Paksha (from Bhadrapad Purnima to Ashwin Amavasya), or on other occasions advised by the Acharya.
The Acharya guides the Karta through Sankalp, preparation and offering of the Pindas, Tarpan with til and Kusha, and the associated prayers as per tradition. The exact vidhi is confirmed in advance.
Keep the names of the departed ancestors (up to three generations, if known), your Gotra (if known) and the details of the person performing the ritual (the Karta) ready. The Acharya team will explain any preparations required.
After you book, our Kashi team contacts you on WhatsApp or phone to confirm the date and timing, note the names and Gotra for your Sankalp, and explain any preparations. On the day, the Acharya performs the Puja in Kashi — you can join through a live stream or be present in person, depending on the option you choose.
